Who We Are

Mouse Tester is a free browser-based tool that helps you check whether your mouse buttons, scroll wheel, and side inputs are working correctly. The site does not require you to create an account, log in, or submit any personal details to use the tool.

We do not sell hardware, run a subscription, or store user profiles. The tool runs in your browser and that is the full extent of the service.

What Information We Collect

Information You Do Not Give Us

Using the mouse tester does not require your name, email address, or any account information. You open the page, run your test, and close the tab. Nothing about that interaction is tied to you personally.

The click events, scroll inputs, and button results you see in the tool are processed entirely in your browser. That data does not leave your device and is not sent to our servers.

Information Collected Automatically

Like almost every website, Mouse Tester collects some basic technical data when you visit. This happens automatically via standard web server logs and analytics tools and includes:

• Your approximate location using your IP address (city or country level, not street address)
• The browser and operating system that you are using
• The pages you visited and how long you spent on them
• How you arrived at the site: search engine, direct link, or referral

This is the common type of data found across the web. It helps us understand which pages are useful, which are confusing, and if the site is loading correctly in different environments.

Cookies

Mouse Tester uses cookies. A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser. We use them for two purposes.

The first is basic analytics, understanding how many people visit, which pages they read, and what devices they use. The second is advertising, which is covered in its own section below.

• To understand what is useful. Analytics tell us which tools people actually use versus which ones they land on and leave. That shapes what we build or improve next.
• To serve relevant ads. Mouse Tester is free to use. Advertising is how the site covers its costs. We use Google AdSense to serve ads, which means Google may use cookies to show you ads based on your past browsing behavior across other sites.

We do not use your data to build personal profiles, send marketing emails, or share information with third parties outside of what is described in this policy.

Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising

Mouse Tester displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings. That link takes you directly to Google's control panel, where you can turn off interest-based ads.

If you prefer not to use Google's opt-out tool, you can also disable third-party cookies in your browser, which prevents the tracking that powers personalized ads.

We do not have access to the data Google collects through AdSense. Google's own privacy policy governs how that information is handled. Mouse Tester has no control over what Google does with it.

Do We Share Your Data?

We do not sell your personal data. We do not trade it or hand it to data brokers.

The only situations where information might be shared are:

• With service providers. We use third-party tools for hosting and analytics. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms of service and privacy policies.
• When required by law. If a legal authority submits a valid request for data, we would comply with applicable law. In practice, we hold so little user data that this scenario is unlikely to involve anything personally identifying.
• In a business transfer. If Mouse Tester were ever sold or merged with another service, user data would be part of that transfer. We would notify users through a prominent notice on the site if that happened.

That is the full list.

Data Retention

We do not store personal information tied to individual users. Server logs that include IP addresses are retained for a short period, typically 30 to 90 days, for security and debugging purposes, then deleted automatically.

Analytics data is stored in an aggregated, anonymized form. There is no expiration on that because it does not identify anyone.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights over your personal data. These commonly include:

• The right to know what data is held about you
• The right to request deletion of your data
• The right to object to certain types of processing
• The right to data portability

Because Mouse Tester collects very little identifying information, most of these rights would be difficult to exercise in practice; there is simply not much to hand over or delete. If you are in the European Union, these rights are covered under the GDPR. If you are in California, they fall under the CCPA. We honor reasonable requests from users in all regions, regardless of local law.

Children's Privacy

Mouse Tester is a general-purpose tool with no content directed specifically at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us, and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, the "last updated" date at the top of this page changes. We will not notify users individually for minor updates, but significant changes will be noted clearly on the site.
